Holy Moly! I have gone way to long without putting up pictures. Especially this time of year.. Blooms everywhere! Our computer had to be upgraded. I guess I used too much memory.. He-He! Here are some snipits over the past three weeks. Pots are up first!

Something is Still Alive

Much to my surprise today, I noticed that the begonia in my pots were still alive.. I may just have to take them out and over winter them in the house.. I love the color of the leaves. During the summer they were nice and green, but now the shades of pink and burgundy are awesome..

North Georgia Outdoor Water Ban

We are now under a water ban handed down by our Gov. Sonny Perdue.. I can't argue about it because where I live we are 15 inches in the hole so far this year.. So what is one to do when the temps are mild and your flower pots are still blooming and beautiful?? Is it legal to get a pitcher and cart water from in the house to my potted plants?? I was thinking of using the kids bath water, but then again I want my flowers to live a little longer..

Garden Well Planned? Not at this House..

I was showing my co worker the front of my house, and he made a hilarious comment.. He tells me it "looks like some one threw up flowers all over my house".. You can look at it that way.. He is a very organized person, this isn't his style.. But, it is mine.. I don't plan my garden, I just put things where I think and feel they should go.. And guess what??? It works out, and works out well.. My garden is a hodge podge of this and that, with some yard decoration such as stepping stones and wind spinners. All carefully, well not so much, picked out and placed by my helpers.. Helpers include birds that drop seeds from my neighbors yard , as they are being chased off the property by the garden cats. Not just human helpers have created this garden.So my question to all of you is, what type of garden do you have??

This picture below, is just a small view of the front of the house.. Mainly the front porch.. Soon I will be painting the front wooden door a black gloss and put a brass kickplate on the bottom.. One of the many projects in my mind..

What in the World?

I have a quick moment to ask a question before I hit the road for work.. Recently I noticed this growing in one of my flower pots (Hibiscus Pot) to be exact. It could very easily be a weed that looks nice or some type of flower.. I have absolutely no clue what it is.. I liked it too much to yank it out of where it rooted itself. Do any of you?? All help will be appreciated.!!

Wishbone Volunteers (Torenia)

We get some rain and some sun and happiness pops up in one of my '"tester pots". Wishbone volunteers.

This would be one of the plants I overwintered and SUSPECT may be the mother of the volunteers...


So I can't wait now to see what color these seedlings are.. What a great way to start the day..

One of Many

I am obsessed with flower pots. I like to make my own instead of buying them.. I have found that hanging baskets are a bit harder for me.. I have birds who seem to always want to nest in them.. Even with the cats around.

This basket has petunias, which are one of my basket staples. I try to mix perennials in the pots as well, so when next year comes, I don't have to fork out as much money to fill them in.. Homestead verbena is my favorite perennial in pots.

Pots everywhere and pots to water daily everywhere.. The kids run when I ask them to go get the hose and sprayer fired up. Some run to do it for me and others run away.. My poor neighbor who watered them daily for us while we were on vacation for 10 days.. That was sure nice of her..

Wishbone (Torenia fournieri)

This flower is one I never knew existed until spring last year , these strange baby plants started growing in my annual bed. I called my more experienced gardening neighbor over and she immediately said "don't pull them, just let them grow". I am so glad I let them grown.

If you look into the tubular part of the flower you can acutally see a wishbone. This makes this flower one of my childrens favorites. It also reseeds itself freely, literally whereever the wind takes them.. In this case it came straight to my yard from the neighbors down the street. They also root very easily.. With a few plants I ended up with a full bed..

I have never seen them at the local Nursery's in 6 packs or even flats.. Perhaps in a round 4 or 6 inch pot.. This annual is a labor of love.. It takes some propagating. But it blooms all summer and fall for me.. Even hubby likes this flower..
