Right Up the Road!! Spring is Coming!

LILBURN, Ga. (AP) -- Georgia's groundhog is predicting an early spring.

Awoken by a crowd of hundreds of fans and TV cameras, General Beauregard Lee poked his head from his antebellum mansion at 7:58 a.m. Saturday and did not see his shadow.

Yellow River Game Ranch spokeswoman Stefanie Reeves says General Lee took his time to leave his mansion, as sunrise was at 7:34 a.m.

Tradition holds that it means the region will have an early spring. Georgia would have been in for six more weeks of winter if the 15-pound furry prognosticator had seen his shadow on his veranda at Yellow River Game Ranch in the northeast Atlanta suburbs.

The Southern varmint's prediction differed, for the third year in a row, from that of his famous Northern colleague, Punxsutawney Phil, who did see his shadow, which portends six more weeks of winter.

My Coolest Friend

The Original Fairy Princess

A While ago, I asked for ideas for my coolest friend, who was having her 80th birthday. I took Cliff's advice and got a picture of us (finally) together, and this is how it turned out. My 12 year old son took the photo.

What color of frame should I use and what size of photo should I do??

Pies and Leaves

This post is dedicated to my friend John, who is the master of pies.. I found it interesting how the leaf color and the pies coordinated. Perhaps that is why we are drawn to those type of desserts at this particular time of year.. They remind us of Autumn.

A Rare Thanksgiving Rose and Egg Nog Custard Pie

Happy Thanksgiving to All!!

Egg Nog Custard Pie, a Dirty Fingernails concoction, with prodding from second son. We will see how it tastes later today.
My son yelled, mom a rose is blooming in the backyard.. What a great Thanksgiving present.. Roses the end of November, this Idaho girl would have never thought of it..
Perfect Day for pies to cool out on the porch.
