Update on Baby Birds (Purple Finches)

They are growing fast and soon will leave the nest. One of the eggs was a dud, so we only have two cute little birdies.

We Have One Baby...

One of our little sparrows of the three eggs I posted the other day has hatched. Momma bird doesn't seem to mind me looking at them, as long as the cats are not around. She will sit at my feet and let me look. They are so ugly, when they are first born, but still cute at the same time.

Neighbors.. Miss Terri

Havoc performed by the Pileated Woodpecker. It took off all that bark in less than 48 hours. She said it sounded like a jack hammer and the bird was the size of a hawk.

You have read about Miss Terri in my blog over the past year. Here are some pictures of her yard and of her and me this past week, while it was so warm outside.. We both have the spring fever bug.

Things that Bring a HUGE Smile to My Face!

Cardinals out in force, enjoying the worms the rain has pushed towards the earth.
Clematis Vine starting to leaf out.
Rosemary blooming. That means it is time to trim it back and use, lots of fresh rosemary in our meals.
Who doesn't love to stretch out on the couch and take a nap.??
Multitudes of seed packets for ten cents each.. For that price who cares?
Another Cardinal on the same day.
And my most favorite! Lilies!!!!!!!!!!!! They are peeking through the earth!!!
Rain on blooming daffodils during a drought!

Crazy Picture Challenge (Psychedelic Sunday)

Disco Inferno Starring Coneflower
I would like everyone to pick one photo from this summer and change/edit it to make a new funkyone.. Then come up with a fun name for the picture.. Leave us a link and why you chose that photo in the comments.. How wild and crazy can you get with a flower photo??

I chose to do the coneflower because of the purple and orange hues it already had and just enhanced them to make it funky.. This flower can be a standout in ones garden.. But has to be watched here because the volunteer rate of this perennial is astounding.. Esp. if the Goldfinches have their way with it.
Thanks Skinny Garden for the P. S. title.. :) awesome!!

Garden Well Planned? Not at this House..

I was showing my co worker the front of my house, and he made a hilarious comment.. He tells me it "looks like some one threw up flowers all over my house".. You can look at it that way.. He is a very organized person, this isn't his style.. But, it is mine.. I don't plan my garden, I just put things where I think and feel they should go.. And guess what??? It works out, and works out well.. My garden is a hodge podge of this and that, with some yard decoration such as stepping stones and wind spinners. All carefully, well not so much, picked out and placed by my helpers.. Helpers include birds that drop seeds from my neighbors yard , as they are being chased off the property by the garden cats. Not just human helpers have created this garden. So my question to all of you is, what type of garden do you have??

This picture below, is just a small view of the front of the house.. Mainly the front porch.. Soon I will be painting the front wooden door a black gloss and put a brass kickplate on the bottom.. One of the many projects in my mind..

Late Morning Visitor

I awoke from my slumber (short as it was) I heard a squawking. It wasn'tthe kids or the cats it was a frantic noise.. I had to do further investigation into what was this alarm clock, waking me up after a few short hours of sleep??

Well from the pictures you can see it was a baby Blue Jay learning to fly and it's mother was the squawking. She yelled at me the whole time I was taking pictures of her baby. She was very camera shy and kept herself well hidden in the trees. That is when she wasn't swooping down near me..
