Atlanta Botanical Garden

Made my first trip to the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Went with Mr. Gum Paste Joel and Mr. Seed Snatcher Tim.. It was an enjoyable day out as an adult, without the kids.. I will however have to take the kids, because I think the 11 year old son would enjoy the carnivorous exhibit and the three youngest would enjoy the children's garden.. The Fuqua Orchid center was marvelous. One thing I have difficulty growing is orchids.. The twelve year old son , is interested in only himself, right now. Typical almost teenager..

North Georgia Outdoor Water Ban

We are now under a water ban handed down by our Gov. Sonny Perdue.. I can't argue about it because where I live we are 15 inches in the hole so far this year.. So what is one to do when the temps are mild and your flower pots are still blooming and beautiful?? Is it legal to get a pitcher and cart water from in the house to my potted plants?? I was thinking of using the kids bath water, but then again I want my flowers to live a little longer..

Nothing Says Summer More Than.....

South Georgia Red Seeded Watermelon.. It makes a mess of everything when cut, but oh so good. This was grown in a home garden by a "retired" farmer in his eighties.. He was selling them for 3 dollars each.. What a steal, for only three dollars, you could meet the hand who cared for the fruit and know it was fresh picked just hours before.

And I have run across a free magazine subscription for US only (sorry guys). I requested it a month ago and got the first issue. Thin magazine, but had fun info and good recipes.
