For a girl that has everything..?? It is her EIGHTIETH birthday, yes I said 80 th.. Sweets are out, as she is diabetic and fall is almost here so a plant is out.. So help me dear Internet friends. What are some good ideas??
On the no water issue, Thanks for the comments.. We had a downpour yesterday and so my pots are set for a week or so.. They sure don't drink up the water like they did with the triple digit days. I know some say don't plant pots, but when you are used to a very rainy climate you don't have to water them, except for during a crazy long drought. It is almost time to bring in the Hibiscus trees and saves some starts of my double impatiens for next year..

For my Dad's 80th I bought him a copy of The Times (uk newspaper) from the day he was born. Maybe you could find a site that sells something similar?
For my mom's 80th she got gift card to her favorite resturants and the fabric store, since she is a quilter. How about a nice framed picture of you two together, that is if you have one. It is always tough to get a gift for someone who has everything or buys whatever they want. Good Luck!
Very difficult :-) For my father in law we usually buy CDs or talking books. He likes to sit back and listen :-)
Oh, you have some great ideas here. I was just going to suggest a nice lunch and outing with you - which I'm sure she would enjoy. I have a good friend in her 80's also - and she loves having photos that remind her of people she loves. A photo of the two of you would be a lovely gift to celebrate her 80th.
Thanks for the great ideas.. I may have to do a basket full of your helpful suggestions.
An indoor plant? My aunt has been an avid gardener her entire life and has discovered that she can grow orchids (quite well!). Or a book that she could read or that you could read together? Or a book of memories you could write together... she could dictate and you transcribe (adding notations and photos, etc?). This last suggestion would mean many visits together(!).
I must leave a "p.s."
You have a beautiful site. I've very much enjoyed visiting!
